BRILLIANCE REQUIRES RESILIENCE
This is the process of the external world’s ‘process’.
When you work on yourself and your skills, but possess a relatively high sense of naivety, there is a script written into the universe that takes you on a journey of self-discovery, and consequently, a discovery of the world unseen, which is always at work. This script can be unrelenting and harsh, but it’s only this way because it is working to prove that you’re willing to continue your pursuit.
It will kill versions of you — be prepared. But, it is worth the journey (so I’m told, lol). As someone who has conquered this brutal assault on several climbs to different peaks, I need to explain this to you so that you’re mentally prepared, since I was not. This will help you not destroy your own self-confidence. I will add this: read a healthy dose of the Bible; specifically Job, Psalms, Proverbs, and Lamentations.
—
You start bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, with wonder and happiness. You don’t understand what you’re doing or how you’re going to do what you want to do, but you’re excited because it feels great to express yourself, and you’re happy with the initial results you’re getting. Whether it be monetary, respect, or experience — you enjoy that things seemingly fall into place. The love for what you are doing replenishes like a well-spring, and you’re just enjoying the fact that things are going (what you would consider as) ‘right’.
This is what they call ‘Beginner’s Luck’. And, in your naivety, you may believe that it will always go like this and feel good. You think, “it’s not luck, I’m just ‘doing the right things’…”
Maybe your ego helps you aggressively move forward. You’re finding ways to be successful and it’s all simply working out. Big smiles, chest up, humble attitude, putting your stamp on the world.
As you move along, you meet people. Some of them are genuinely interested in what you’re doing, but some of them have dark intentions, hoping to keep you in your nescience† to profit off of what you're doing without you noticing. You don’t know who is who… and you probably don’t care at this point in the journey because you just are enjoying your expression. So, you are willing to trust everybody, share your vision, and integrate into a new community with an open heart.
And, then, slowly… the bumps come.
Now, what no one will tell you is that many of these bumps come from your internal world. See, we don’t realize that our past traumas, thoughts (about self and others), and vices unknowingly magnetize these ‘issues’ towards us. In addition, some people are frankly malicious and self-serving, so they will do anything to compete, challenge or snuff out your light and/or momentum. But, since you believe in your direction, your idea, and your vision you don’t initially catch on to the intentions of others. More importantly, you don’t understand that your own intention is shakier (or less developed) than you realize.
In the lighter experiences, you are nicked and can keep it moving — a little slander here, a faint bullying there… you can deal with it. But, in other more realistic experiences, people who see your light start sabotaging your steps, creating narratives, sullying your name, or using power and influence to obstruct your ascension. It’s confusing, especially when your intention is to be inclusive and respecting of your community. You’re just a guy or gal trying to do what you know is in your heart…
So, you start to look for answers — there are none. You ask for help — no one helps. You reach out the people who said “hit me up if you need anything, homie”, and they ignore you. If they do give you access, they listen to your challenges — then tell the very people who are dishing out this unwarranted attack on you. And, magically, more bumps arise.
“Bumps turn to hills… hills turn to mountains… and suddenly the thing that you love turns to a weight that has been added onto by your own doubts, insecurities, and questions. The initial internal battles increase the weight. The added expectations makes you feel like you have done something wrong. You’re journeying uphill and although you can carry it all, it begins to wear on your spirit.”
Everything becomes more difficult with each step. And it’s at this point that you want to say “FFF THIS!!” and eject. You can feel an overwhelming sense of frustration and victimhood, like “why is this happening?!”
But this is where your brilliance requires your resilience.
You have to focus less on what is happening, and turn that focus inward to what you need to shed. A lot of it is an aging mentality, your past, your perception of yourself and skills… sometimes it’s your environment and the people closest to you. You have to get by yourself — which, I know, sounds counter-intuitive, but it’s what is required to stop this script from running. Trust me, listen to what Uncle Leon is saying and get by yourself.
You didn’t make a wrong turn. You probably made several mistakes… okay, let’s be honest, you made a lot of mistakes — but that’s because you didn’t know. We never do. And, even if you’re warned, the script runs anyways! You just have to make it through, and that will take you simplifying everything, losing what isn’t necessary, and re-engaging with what you’re already great at in a new and more structured way.
That is all. The momentum didn’t go anywhere, the love didn’t go anywhere… it’s all there as long as you acted (and didn’t react) accordingly.
By reading the aforementioned Bible passages, it will help your soul understand that this is not an isolated thing. It happens to every single, bright light that decides to venture into the world and follow their spirit. No person is exempt, they just receive the same script in varying degrees. Most elevate to heights unseen and some decide to leave us — either way, the script is running, regardless.
If you have questions, I likely won’t be able to answer them because I’ll be getting my ass handed to me by life too, lol. But, if you sincerely need me, reach out to me and I’ll be happy to give your confidence the smelling salts it needs to stay in the game.
Sending love and good energy. A Prefix For Good,
PRO
†nescience: def; not knowing what you do not yet know.
DISCLAIMERS: This will happen on every pursuit, this is the reason why people tell you to pursue one thing with all of your might. The more pursuits, the more scripts. Also, like I said: nobody is exempt — and time is not the factor; it can and will happen at any time. Also also, if you don’t disrupt the script, it will gain strength and magnitude until it breaks you. Athletes go through injuries, scholars get rejected, futures get stolen, relationships face scandal… it’s mandatory to prove your spirits love. Stay strong and look to God.
